Richard and Amber van Vugt started Odanah Construction with a goal to deliver high-quality construction work at a fair price and provide for their growing family. Today, they’ve established an honest company that prioritizes treating its employees and subcontractors well and always puts client needs first.

As a proud member of the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe, Rich is one of the only builders with Native American heritage in West Michigan. He can trace his heritage back to his indigenous ancestors that predate all the local tribes that reside throughout the area. You could say we’re building to the beat of a different drum.

Rich is a licensed builder with over 25 years of experience in the construction industry. He enjoys the process of planning and constructing and loves to see smiles on clients’ faces at the end of a project.

Amber brings over 20 years of experience in office management and is skilled at working behind the scenes with vendors to get clients the items they need on the worksite. 

For a small company, we can accomplish big things. We’re a one-stop shop when it comes to projects. With subcontractors in all trades, we are able to smoothly navigate a wide variety of projects from start to completion. We are experienced in both metal and wood framing and can also provide custom work.
